Dunno what you use for photo organization and editing, but that should be similar indeed, you could use Lightroom catalogs interchangeably on the PC and Mac. But the MS stuff works great in the Mac OS (soon to be macOS.sigh). and how much that has to integrate with Office. Mail might be a bit of an issue, but it sorta depends on your work setup, email provider, etc. Word and Excel, while generally a bit behind on the Mac, are virtually the same. It sounds like you've got software covered. My Windows and Linux-using friends tell me that their machines are much cheaper, and they're probably right in the first instance, but they're also on a much shorter upgrade cycle than I am. I've thought about a MacBook Air for travel, but the 13" MacBook Pro isn't a heavyweight, and it just keeps on going. Both machines are maxed with RAM (the later models of course can handle much more) and have upgraded HDDs, but neither is fitted with SSD, at least not yet. I must say in its defence that Windows has improved greatly since I migrated my home system, but the thing that's anchored me in Mac OS has been the fact that my eight year-old MacBook Pro 13" and my seven year-old iMac 27" (both running El Capitan) have both handled my RAW files in CS5 without a noticeable degradation in performance, even up to those from the K-1. Since then, I haven't remotely considered changing, even though I've been using Windows at work, up to Win8. I've been working in a multi-platform environment for years, and I got so fed up with MS indifference to user issues with their OS, that I switched my home system to Macs even before OS X appeared. Updates are regular and well-executed, and customisation is more flexible than Time Machine (at least, up until I gave up on Time Machine about five years ago). Every Mac user would be well advised to consider CCC. I strongly recommend you buy Carbon Copy Cloner, rather than relying on apple's time machine.I second that proposal, emphatically.
